Mike Gende on Bass Guitar

Mike Gende - Bass

Mike Gende started out as a child. Inspired by music in the 60's and 70's, he decided to try strumming a guitar. His mother thought better of that and insisted he join grade school band playing various saxes (which he dutifully did up through college and to this day). Early on, he would also find bass lines on his dad's largely unused acoustic guitar. His older brother (also a musician like his younger brother and older sister) suggested that a violin, like a bass, had four strings too. Made sense to Mike, so he picked one up.

Since then Mike has played in many musical settings and managed a humble degree in Music/Arts, somewhat to the dismay of his parents (who preferred he earn money). In bands, Mike typically plays either bass and sings or plays guitar-sax-violin-sings. Mike likes simply playing bass with Lee Bailey's various and sundry projects. Lee actually pays money, a pleasant reality to which Mike has grown accustomed and of which his parents heartily approve.
